The text is crystal clear, to the point; the graph is large and nicely done. The combination of these two greatly reduced the size of the book.
Personally the best part was about reaction - some counter-flow reaction design and continuous reaction setup may only be met in chemical industry settings. Some reaction designs get very deep into the advanced organic chemistry and industrial reaction engineering, such as the Grignard reaction where alkyl halide and ketone were added simultaneously after Grignard initiation.
The purification part was good too, filled with practical guidance in a few pages.
The characterization is exclusive, with some rarely mentioned techniques by organic chemists. Of course the advances of mass spectrometry in recent decades did not show in this 1971 text.
